Career Profile
I’m well versed in AWS and have worked with the API’s since the early days of SOAP to the modern-day REST API. I’ve built large-scale systems managed by a host of tooling including GitLab, Jenkins, Circle CI, and Travis. I mainly write code in python but have recently taken to rust. When it comes to IaC I’m a Terraform convert, however, I can also use Cloudformation when required. I’ve been responsible for building out geographically remote teams to help companies achieve and maintain AWS Partner statuses such as the Managed Services Partner (MSP) Programme and the Migration Competency.
Experiences
Working with internal teams to promote best practices and pattern’s across the business is the core focus of my role and supports many teams diigital transformation to working in a DevSecOps manor. I also work with internal and external communities and user groups to help drive visibility of the NWG to a larger audiance.
Providing support for partners with training, competencies and partner programs. As a former partner its interesting to be on the AWS side and help companies reach their potential.
Working at DoiT I’ve had the pleasure of building out a very talented multi-cloud team of engineers and architects across EMEA. Working across many different verticals it’s great to see how DoiT can bring those folks’ knowledge to other businesses whilst changing the model of consultancy. I was responsible for winning key deals in cloud transformation and migration scenarios. My focus was on AWS/GCP and winning migration deals to these hyperscalers. The deals were often worth several million over a three-year period and needed careful planning and negotiation to ensure the best deal for the customer, satisfying CxO needs and requirements. I also helped a small team of architects ramp up our AWS game and bring new competencies and Managed Service Practise (MSP) to the business generating even more opportunities for business. This has ticked all my boxes in allowing me to be hands-on technical whilst managing a team and creating new ideas.
As a Technical Evangelist I worked closely with the AWS community to deliver content to raise awareness of products and best practices across the entire range of AWS products and services, I covered user groups, spoke at AWS, third-party events, and provided support and presentations for streaming events on Twitch.tv. I specialised in containers, Serverless, and CI/CD pipelines, however, I covered other areas like AI/ML and data architecture. As a Solutions architect I focused on ISV’s and helped them modernise their SaaS stacks to be more cloud-native.
Specialising in the cloud and open source consultancy we helped companies deliver scalable, cloud architecture using the best of breed open source solutions. Ngineered offered managed instance support and application migration to allow businesses to seamlessly move their workloads to the cloud. Areas we specialised in are media (VOD delivery), microsite build outs and e-commerce solutions for high demand/high availability environments. DevOps featured heavily in this role as we use industry standard and open source tools chains to deliver cloud based platforms.Clients included, Ticketmaster, Channel 4 Television, and the Cordant Group.
